So Budapest was interesting, and more interesting is Eastern Europe in general. We took the Thursday night train (ugh) and arrived in Budapest Friday morning. Coming from Prague, it wasn't the most shockingly beautiful place, but so much history! Especially in relation to WWII and communism. From the Terror Museum, that showed the struggle the people have been through with secret police and children being praised for turning in their "unpatriotic" parents, to the Statue Garden that now displays all of the statues that, during communism, stood throughout the city, to some really beautiful parks, and REALLY good food.
Unfortunately, they have a really confusing metro system, and the morning we left, we all had to pay a 2000 florent (10 bucks) fine for doing it wrong :( Other than that we found the people great, especially my friend Holly's friend's friend (did you follow that?) who booked our hostel, met us at the train station, drove us to the Statue Garden and took us all around her city! Amazing.
But to the bribe part... we're travelling through Slovakia and a ticket agent comes into our compartment and tells us we basically got on the wrong train and we need to buy another ticket, but that he'd give us a discount if we didn't want a receipt. Hmmm, I'm naive and had to later have the scenario explained to me. So I gave my first bribe! Yay Slovak Republic who gave me more than a stamp in my passport!

gotta tell you, bekah, your hair looks NOTHING like a mullet. word on the street was that you were just looking for a way to boost ratings on your blog. :)
Great pictures! I miss Europe.
You're right K, never gotten so many comments as the mullet post. I'll have to remember that in the future. I'll see how "my days in a trailor park" do to boost attention to my blog.
A bribe? or was that just taking advantage of a cute girl in a new country? :-) I miss you!!!!!!!!!
